It’s a book that’s been around awhile. But good advice that’s just as relevant today as ever.

Many of us stink at this, including yours truly. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate the skill or the need to get to the point. So in that spirit, I’ll leave this post at that.

Are flu shots just another way to drum up business?

Like getting your oil changed every 3,000 miles instead of the adequate 5,000? Or like going to the dentist every 6 months rather than every year? Or like getting your eyes examined, despite 20/20 vision, every year rather than only once you notice you’re now squinting?

Are you skeptical about them…or sold on them?

Just found this Twitter account. Pretty darn cool. Recent tweets: How farmers are using Twitter…How the U.S. FDA is using Twitter…How Boston’s Logan airport is using Twitter.

Tell me you’re not interested in clever uses in Twitter. C’mon on, I dare you to say it.

You couple that account with this blog post on 40 useful things you can share on Twitter and you’ve almost got enough to start building a quickie Twitter strategy.

There are plenty of talented folks doing amazing things with technology to change how we interact with the world — helping us communicate better and in different ways, solve medical riddles, purify drinking water, provide new sources of energy, all that good stuff.

But how far are people challenging the status quo and pushing the limits in your company? You might not be saving the world, but are you allowing or encouraging people to stretch?

Just wondering.

What if Facebook moved away?

What if you knew that Facebook was being shutdown at midnight tonight?

Would your life change for the better or the worse?

On a personal note, which relationships would utterly dry up? Which might get a boost from more face-to-face or phone calls?

On the business side, would an important marketing channel die for you, or just a casual one?

If you’re pretty much headed in the right direction, moving quickly, that’s a good thing that produces great results. But if you’re moving slowly, who cares if you’re dead-on, 100% accurate with your direction? You’ll never gain momentum. You’ll never get to the destination.

Buying boxers and lingerie at the airport
